Why can't I see my Instagram account in the dropdown list when I try connecting it to GuestXM?

If you have tried to connect your Instagram business page to your GuestXM location and you noticed that your IG page is not listed on the dropdown, there are 2 things that you need to verify:

  1. You must verify that your Instagram account is a Business Account

  2. You must verify if your Instagram account is linked to a Facebook Page. 

Now if your page is verified as a business page and linked to a Facebook page but are still having this issue, then it could be because of an existing bug on Facebook's platform. A bug has been reported to Facebook's Technical Team which can affect IG connection. Facebook says they are looking into the issue but to date, it has not been solved yet.

For now, you can take the following steps as a temporary workaround, as advised by a member of Facebook's technical support team:

Convert your Instagram Business Account to a Personal Account and then convert it back to a Business Account. These are the steps:

  1. Open your Instagram app on your phone/mobile device.
    *This will not work on the laptop or desktop version of Instagram.

  2. Go to your profile and tap the hamburger icon in the upper right corner

  3. Tap Settings

  4. Tap Account

  5. Scroll to the bottom of the list and tap Switch back to a Personal Account.

  6. Tap Account once again

  7. This time tap Switch to Professional Account

  8. Tap Business

  9. Add details, like your business category and contact information.

  10. Follow the steps and select your Facebook page to link your Instagram business page.

  11. Tap Done.

The media insights will be lost when converting back to a personal account. You may want to read and save the media insights before converting.


Note: Click the "Hamburger Icon" on the top right.

Step 5: Switch from a Business to Personal Account.

Steps 6 & 7: Go back to the Hamburger and Switch to Professional Account.

Step 8: Tap Business.

Step 9: Add details, like contact information and your business category.

Step 10: Tap Done. 🎉
